Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Chick Bowdrie (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jon Hess (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hess has chosen Demiurge as his entrance music. The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

The judges for this bout are James Atkins, Chris Edwards and Steven Brown.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bowdrie ducks under a wild hook from Hess.
Hess fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Bowdrie has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
Bowdrie scoring well with a low kick there.
Hess has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.
Bowdrie digs a good body shot into Hess's ribs.
Hess jabs Bowdrie right on the nose. Bowdrie blinks but takes it well.
Hess ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Jon Hess seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Hess misses with a looping left.
A low kick from Hess is predictable there
and Bowdrie counters with a straight right hand.
Hess goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.
Hess tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Bowdrie manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Bowdrie gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Hess.
It looks like Chick Bowdrie has been cut.
Bowdrie looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.

Hess looks to throw the jab but Bowdrie is out of range.
Bowdrie bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Hess takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
It looks like Jon Hess has been cut.
Hess tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Bowdrie is able to avoid easily.
Bowdrie tries to work over Hess's front leg with a kick but Hess checks it.
Hess jabs Bowdrie right on the nose. Bowdrie blinks but takes it well.

The fighters circling - Bowdrie throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Hess wants to clinch up but Bowdrie keeps it at a distance.
Bowdrie takes a swing at Hess's ribcage but misses.
Bowdrie lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Hess circles away quickly and effectively.
And Hess responds with a good body kick, but Bowdrie manages to step out the way in time.
Hess's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Bowdrie connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Hess scrambles back to his feet.
Bowdrie misses with an uppercut. Hess saw that one coming.
Hess tries to counter with a clinch but Bowdrie shakes him off and moves away.
Bowdrie jabs Hess to the body, keeping him at a distance.
Hess connects with a solid leg kick.
Hess steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Bowdrie.
Hess lands the left hand.
Hess drives through and clinches with Bowdrie against the cage.
Bowdrie lands an uppercut.
Bowdrie tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Bowdrie goes for a body shot but it's blocked.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Bowdrie will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Hess up against the cage.

Bowdrie throws a leg kick but Hess checks it.
Bowdrie sizes up Hess with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.
Hess is looking to slow Bowdrie down with leg kicks.
Hess swings for the body but Bowdrie moves out of range.
Bowdrie ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Hess moves away.
A nice side step and Hess releases a counter shot to the body, but it doesn't find it's home.
Hess blocks the body kick.
Bowdrie moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.

Bowdrie is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Hess.
Bowdrie gets tackled into the cage by Hess. Hess maintains the clinch.
Hess tries a body shot but Bowdrie blocks it.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Hess lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage.

Hess makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut.
Hess tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.
Bowdrie manages to break the clinch.
Hess lands with a straight right. Bowdrie didn't see that one coming.
Hess lands with an uppercut that bounces Bowdrie off the cage and back into range.
Bowdrie doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
Hess scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard.
Hess pivots, looking for a leg kick but Bowdrie is out of range and Hess settles back down.
The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Hess uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Bowdrie.
Hess cracks Bowdrie with a big right hand that sees him stumbling back against the cage! Bowdrie falls to his knees and Hess doesn't need a second invitatation - he rushes in and fires off several unanswered shots that force the referee to stop the fight! This one is all over!
