Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Marty Jonas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Al Qowy Junior (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Al Qowy Junior looks lathargic as he enters the arena. Wake up son, you're about to have a fight!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Marty Jonas!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Al Qowy Junior!
The judges for this bout are Peter Branson, Daniel Franklin and Sandra Marshall.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Junior dives in for a single leg takedown but Jonas sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Jonas moves out of range as Junior throws a body kick.
Jonas is trying to close the distance and clinch up, after that failed offence from Junior.
Junior tries for a takedown but Jonas circles away easily

and Jonas counters by clinching up.
Junior looks winded!

Jonas breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Jonas closes the distance and clinches.
Come on Jonas - let's have some action - none of this stalling nonsense.

Jonas's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Junior checks a leg kick.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Junior enables Jonas to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Junior manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Jonas scoring with punches to the head and body.
Jonas controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Jonas pushes down on Junior's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Jonas stalling.
Jonas knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Junior on the ground.

Jonas is looking for a kimura but Junior is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Jonas to get the leverage.
Junior moves into full guard.
Junior being controlled here, momentarily.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Jonas passes Junior's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Jonas wants to stand but Junior has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Jonas in particular looking to stall.
Junior has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Jonas is working away from the top position though.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Jonas swings for the body but Junior moves out of range.
Junior is clearly looking to counter with head kicks.
Junior avoids the head kick by Jonas.

Jonas shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Junior napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Junior has found himself in a tricky position here. He's been working his transitions in training so let's see if he can work his way out of it.
Jonas is working Junior over with some ground and pound from side control.

Jonas is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Junior has escaped the position, nice work there.
Jonas tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.
Junior is trying to control Jonas's posture but Jonas avoids it.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!


A leg kick checked by Junior.
Junior wants to clinch.
Jonas is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Junior can do to turn this around?

Jonas clinches up with Junior and pushes him back against the cage.

Jonas pulls guard effortlessly.
Junior wants to control from the top but Jonas keeps moving.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Jonas has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Junior has passed into side control.
Junior in side control, throwing shots but Jonas defends.
Junior is breathing heavily.

Junior tries to advance to mount but can't.
Jonas pushes Junior away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Junior gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.
Jonas is looking to reverse the position.
I wouldn't like to be where Jonas is right now.
Jonas is positioning himself to get back to half guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
You can see the frustration on Jonas's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Jonas wings away with a couple of strikes but they don't land.
Marty Jonas overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
The ground and pound from Junior seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.
Jonas can't do much from the bottom here.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Junior tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Jonas manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Jonas takes a jab right on the kisser.
Junior shoots in for a takedown but Jonas shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Jonas gets a clinch.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Jonas breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Jonas shoots in and bounces Junior off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Junior is wriggling around but Jonas manages to pass to half guard.

Junior is trying to maintain the position but Jonas is very close to passing his half guard.

Jonas seems to be looking for submissions.
Jonas winds up and cracks Junior with a swinging punch to the side of the head.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Jonas is taking a breather. Junior says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Junior has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Jonas is working away from the top position though.

Jonas looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Jonas content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Back to the action! Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!



Junior gets tackled into the cage by Jonas. Jonas maintains the clinch.

Jonas successfully pulls guard.
Jonas utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Jonas wants to stand and escape but Junior is having none of it.
Junior postures up.
Junior stops Jonas from standing up.
Junior takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Jonas holds on and takes a little breather.
Junior slips nicely into half guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Jonas is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Junior's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Junior's back!

Jonas is working for the rear naked choke. He has one arm under the chin but Junior has hold of the other arm. A bit of a stalemate here.
So, who will make the next big move? In this position it could be crucial.

Jonas slows the pace down here. Having a little breather whilst he's in a dominant position, looking to rest and regain some energy, ready to go for the finish.

Junior is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Jonas gets his way!
Jonas keeps control of the position as Junior tries to break free.
Jonas controls the action.
Jonas lands an elbow to the side of the head.
I would not like to be Junior right now.

Jonas looking to break Junior's wrist control so he can sink in the choke. Junior remaining controlled and patient though - he really has to keep calm otherwise Jonas will wrap this one up with the rear naked choke!
Jonas is riding his opponent, not letting Junior buck him off.
Junior trying to control the action but Jonas just sinks the hooks in.
Junior manages to reverse the position and now he's in Jonas's guard. Nice work there by Junior.
Jonas on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Jonas tries to get out of the position.

Jonas wants to sweep but no luck.
Jonas has his hands on Junior's head, controlling the position.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Marty Jonas showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Jonas has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
