Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Jeff Halloway!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Shane Peters!
The judges for this bout are Colin Fray, Chris Saunders and Jeff Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Halloway takes the fight into the clinch.

Halloway breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Peters goes for a double leg but Halloway avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the ropes as Halloway continues to drive forward.
Peters has done a lot of speed work in the buildup to this fight.

Halloway closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Halloway lands in his opponent's guard.

Peters wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Peters can do anything to dispel that myth.

If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
Peters pulls Halloway in close to prevent any damage.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Peters closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Halloway's guard.

Halloway escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Peters gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Peters throws a strike but Halloway rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Halloway is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Halloway stands and throws Peters's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Peters parries the strikes from Halloway easily there. Halloway is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Peters to escape.
Peters gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there!

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Halloway is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Peters can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Peters tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Halloway swivels and escapes.

Peters goes for a double leg but Halloway avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the ropes as Halloway continues to drive forward.

Halloway tries to bum rush Peters with a series of wild strikes but Peters uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Peters enables Halloway to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Peters manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Halloway decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Peters, up you get!

Halloway shoots in and bounces Peters off the ropes to secure the takedown into guard.
