PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Earl Allen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Xoa Lim (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Earl Allen!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Xoa Lim!
The judges for this bout are Paulo Santos, Felipe Paraventi and Mauricio Rocha.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Allen misses with a takedown attempt - Lim sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Jab, jab by Lim - just one landing.


It looks like Earl Allen has been cut.
Lim swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Allen definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
Lim throws a body shot but no joy.
Allen drops down looking for a counter takedown but Lim sprawls and moves away.
Allen shoots for a double leg takedown but Lim sprawls well. He's pushed Allen's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Allen.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Earl Allen. That's going to take a lot out of him.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Lim throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Allen sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Allen defending well as Lim loads up on a big left hand.
Lim looks to land a left hand but Allen moved out of range nicely.
Allen half committed to a counter leg kick.
A jab from Lim misses.

That's one minute gone in the round.
No joy there for Lim, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Allen tries to counter by moving into the clinch but Lim manages to circle out of the way.

Allen shoots in and bounces Lim off the ropes to secure the takedown into guard.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Lim can do anything to dispel that myth.

Lim is edging up against the ropes. He's using the ropes to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.
Lim wants to break free but Allen has control.
Allen keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Lim's efforts to push away.
Allen tries to score a body lock takedown but Lim shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
Allen drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Allen lands a takedown into guard.

Lim is edging up against the ropes. He's using the ropes to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Lim gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Allen.
Lim working hard to break the clinch.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Allen tries for a takedown. No joy.

Allen pulls guard.
Lim wants to get up but he can't break Allen's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Allen pulls Lim in to control the position.
Allen lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.


Allen thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Lim is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
Allen trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Allen advances to half guard.
Allen prevents Lim from standing back up.

Allen is looking for a kimura but Lim is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Allen to get the leverage.

Allen is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Lim has managed to free his arm - good work.
Lim is trying to stand up here but Allen is controlling him well.
Allen works his way into full mount!

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Allen is working for a guillotine from mount but Lim frees his head quite easily.
Allen can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Lim is looking to escape.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Lim tries to buck Allen off so he can stand up but Allen has got his back now - this could be big trouble! He's slapped on a rear naked choke that looks really tight! Lim falls backwards, slamming Allen to the mat but Allen holds on tight! Lim is forced to tap and this one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:34 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Earl Allen!
