The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Horrible takedown attempt by Hiwatari or perhaps it was just good defense by Morris, which made it look bad.
Morris feinted with a counter takedown.
Hiwatari throws a sloppy body shot
and Morris counters with a three punch combo that has Hiwatari backing up. Hiwatari nods at Morris to acknowledge the strikes.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Hiwatari is defended easily by Morris.
Hiwatari shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Morris pinned against the cage. Morris gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Gregory Morris has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Kai Hiwatari.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Hiwatari throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Morris counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.
Hiwatari tries to close the distance and clinch up but Morris swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Hiwatari tries for a takedown but Morris sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

Morris shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Hiwatari napping and manages to drive through into side control!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Morris has control of an arm but Hiwatari manages to advance to Morris's back!
Morris tries to escape the position.

Hiwatari looking to break Morris's wrist control so he can sink in the choke. Morris remaining controlled and patient though - he really has to keep calm otherwise Hiwatari will wrap this one up with the rear naked choke!
Morris knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Hiwatari on the ground.
Morris is really stuck here.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Hiwatari is looking cool and calm here, just waiting for a good opportunity to attack and finish the fight from this dominant position.
