Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of London, John Johnson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Takumi Takeshi!
The judges for this bout are Taro Takaoka, Tatsuya Matsuyama and Shigeki Sano.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Takeshi connects with a crisp jab.
Takeshi stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
Takeshi is a very stocky fighter. Infact he's such a weird shape that he's almost like some sort of comedy character - it's hard to believe he's real.
Johnson shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Takeshi pinned against the cage. Takeshi gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Takeshi looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it.
Takeshi stuffs the takedown attempt from Johnson. Johnson gets slowly back to his feet.
Takeshi connects with a body shot.

and Takeshi connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for John Johnson. That's going to take a lot out of him.

A lazy left from Takeshi finds it's target.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Johnson drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.
Johnson shoots for a takedown but Takeshi saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

Johnson shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Takeshi manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Johnson is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

Johnson is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Takeshi is just riding it out for now. Johnson eventually gives up the hold.

Takeshi holds on for dear life, maintaining half guard for now.

Johnson thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Johnson wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Takeshi, who protects the arm well.

Johnson is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Takeshi is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Johnson has worked his way into a potential kimura here. Takeshi is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. Johnson yanks on the arm and Takeshi is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by Johnson.

After the fight, John Johnson was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
