Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Akuma Ankokushin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Chris Balisi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chris Balisi has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Akuma Ankokushin's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Dirk Anderson, Michael Johnstone and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ankokushin throws a nice looking combination but Balisi bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Ankokushin connects with a body shot that sends Balisi's belly button to the back.

Balisi shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Ankokushin's guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Ankokushin lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Balisi circles away quickly and effectively.
Balisi throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Ankokushin's waist but Ankokushin gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Balisi off to one side.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Balisi takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.

Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Ankokushin, as that shot connected.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Balisi connects with a nice short shot to Ankokushin's temple.

That was a close second round but I would say that Akuma Ankokushin will probably get the nod.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!


Balisi changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Ankokushin tries to avoid it but Balisi manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Ankokushin to the ground. Ankokushin escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Ankokushin lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.

Balisi has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Ankokushin is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Balisi.

Ankokushin decides to stand up, so the ref orders Balisi to his feet.

And that's the end of the fight!

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Ankokushin, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
