PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Steve Bartman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Alice Jonson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Jonson's choice of entrance music: As I Lay Dying - This Is Who We Are. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jonson looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Bartman is fending him off so far but Jonson persists. Nope, Bartman circles away and we're back to standing.
Jonson throws out a loose jab but Bartman uses good head movement to avoid it.

Bartman changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Jonson looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Jonson manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Bartman manages to get himself to full guard.

Jonson drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Jonson jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Jonson thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Bartman accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Bartman on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Bartman tries to get out of the position.
Jonson stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Bartman swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Bartman closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Bartman lands in his opponent's guard.

He's hopped off into side control, looking to tighten the submission... is it going to work? He's given up a good position looking for it. Bartman looks OK. Oh, I spoke too soon, he's out! That must have been tighter than I thought! Excellent work there by Jonson! Submission of the night perhaps?
