The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
The fighters circle momentarily. Cortez darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
Cortez tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

Almeida tries to keep at a distance but Cortez has taken the fight into the clinch.

Cortez might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Almeida kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

Cortez scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard.
Francisco Cortez seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
The fighters circle, before Cortez throws a beautiful high kick that crashes into Almeida's neck, sending him stumbling to the floor! Cortez lands more strikes and forces a referee stoppage! That one ended in an instant!
