Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Aaron Kaufmann!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Mario Ochoa!
The judges for this bout are Arvi Lind, Marco Blurström and Ben Zyskovitsi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ochoa shoots in looking for a takedown but Kaufmann manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Ochoa's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Ochoa shoots in for a takedown but Kaufmann shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Ochoa closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

Ochoa pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Ochoa wants to free his trapped foot but Kaufmann is holding on for dear life with his legs.

Kaufmann is doing well to control the position and prevent Ochoa from advancing to side control.
Kaufmann wants to control but Ochoa is keeping busy.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Ochoa tries to stand but his hand is stuck under Kaufmann.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Still in half guard, Ochoa seems content to control.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

Ochoa drives through and clinches with Kaufmann against the cage.

Ochoa utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

Ochoa wants to improve his position but instead Kaufmann has moved into half guard.
Kaufmann is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.
Well, if Kaufmann is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Ochoa tries to kick Kaufmann off but Kaufmann keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Ochoa misses with some strikes from the bottom.

Kaufmann is trying to control the action in half guard but Ochoa is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Ochoa is positioning himself well to prevent Kaufmann advancing to mount.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Ochoa tries to regain full guard. Instead though, Kaufmann has advanced to mount. Uh oh.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Ochoa blocks a head kick by Kaufmann.
Ochoa goes for a double leg but Kaufmann avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Kaufmann continues to drive forward.
Kaufmann swings for the body but Ochoa moves out of range.
As Kaufmann backs off Ochoa throws a huge counter combo but Kaufmann manages to avoid it all.

and Kaufmann counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Kaufmann tries to stand but can't do so whilst Ochoa controls his leg.
Kaufmann trying desperately to get back to his feet here but he's not having any joy at all. He's going to tire himself out if he's not careful.
Ochoa is looking for a sweep. Kaufmann is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Aaron Kaufmann overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Kaufmann wants to control the pace but Ochoa is squirming around nicely.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Ochoa bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Ochoa can do anything to dispel that myth.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Ochoa has given up his back, trying to stand up. Not clever.
Ochoa is really stuck here.
Ochoa avoids the strikes from Kaufmann.

Kaufmann working for a choke but Ochoa is defending well.
Kaufmann is hanging on to Ochoa's back as he tries to escape.

Kaufmann is remaining active here, looking for the choke. The more discerning members of the crowd will appreciate his efforts.
I really don't envy Ochoa right now.
Kaufmann is not going to allow Ochoa to sit and survive in this position.
Ochoa really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Kaufmann. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Ochoa breaks Kaufmann's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.
Ochoa must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
