Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Royce Gracie (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Andrew Morgan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Royce Gracie!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Andrew Morgan!
The judges for this bout are Luis Engracia, Thiago Cunha and Edson Gomes.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gracie misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.

Morgan clinches.
Morgan dictating the pace here, as the fighters clinch against the cage.

Morgan has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Gracie clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Gracie is having to fend off submission attempts from Morgan, who is looking to sink in the choke. Morgan doesn't have the hooks in though and Gracie manages to reverse position! He's now on top, in his opponent's guard.
Gracie wants to pass the guard but Morgan is keeping the position.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Gracie thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Morgan had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Gracie defends it easily.

Gracie drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Gracie jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Morgan really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Gracie. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Gracie stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Morgan swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Gracie drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Gracie jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Morgan lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.


Gracie working for a triangle but Morgan defends it easily.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Morgan throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Gracie utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Morgan trying to move into half guard but instead Gracie has managed to sweep!


Gracie drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Gracie jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Morgan looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Morgan pulls Gracie in close to prevent any damage.
Morgan is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Gracie drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Morgan manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Gracie has Morgan in his guard.

Morgan engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
Morgan wants to control from the top but Gracie keeps moving.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Morgan throwing strikes but missing.
Gracie can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Morgan controls the pace.

Gracie working away from the bottom but not quite defensive enough there because Morgan has passed into half guard!
Morgan not landing any meaningful shots this time.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Andrew Morgan dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Gracie misses with a takedown attempt - Morgan sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Gracie shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Morgan as he jumps to the side.
Gracie blocks the body kick.
Gracie shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Morgan holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Royce Gracie. That's going to take a lot out of him.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Morgan jumps guard.

Gracie is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Morgan scrambles and gets back to his feet.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Gracie tries to sprawl but Morgan drives through with a takedown into half guard.
Morgan is taking a breather. Gracie says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Gracie works his way to full guard. Good work.
Morgan is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Gracie keeping moving, preventing Morgan from controlling successfully.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Morgan tries to free his leg and advance position but Gracie is retaining full guard.

Gracie had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Morgan defends it easily.

Gracie is looking for a triangle but Morgan pushes his legs off easily.
Gracie keeping moving, preventing Morgan from controlling successfully.
Morgan wants to stand and escape but instead Gracie has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.


That's three minutes gone in the round.

Gracie drops back, looking for a kneebar! Morgan looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Morgan looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Morgan!

Gracie prevents Morgan from moving into mount.
Morgan is staying tight to Gracie's torso, preventing him from escaping.
Gracie regains half guard there - taking advantage of Morgan's attempt to lay and pray for a moment.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Morgan is looking to pass Gracie's guard but actually Gracie recovers to full guard.
Morgan is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Morgan stands up over his opponent, looking to dive in with a big punch. Here he comes, superman style! Oh, the punch misses and Gracie has got him in a triangle choke for good measure! Oh no! Morgan manages to get his head free but now Gracie has transitioned to an armbar! Morgan grimaces and is forced to tap! Beautiful Jiu Jitsu from Gracie! I'd be surprised if that didn't end up as submission of the night!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:59 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Royce Gracie!
