The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Volchenko gets caught napping as Ceronne dives in and scores a takedown. Volchenko manages to retain guard.
Ceronne tries to free his leg and advance position but Volchenko is retaining full guard.
Ceronne passes Volchenko's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Ceronne definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
Volchenko has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Ceronne is working away from the top position though.
Ceronne passes to side control.
Ceronne is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Volchenko has escaped the position, nice work there.
Ceronne tries for a kimura but Volchenko is defending well.
Ceronne has hold of Volchenko's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Volchenko tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Ceronne cranks the arm and Volchenko screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Volchenko, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:58 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Americana). Alexander Ceronne!
A determined Alexander Ceronne didn't want to dwell on this fight in his post fight interview. Instead he was more keen to state he wants a title shot. Let's see if he gets it!
