Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jako Day (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kendrick Lamar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kendrick Lamar is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jako Day!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Kendrick Lamar!
The judges for this bout are Ben Hemmingworth, Topper Green and Hugh Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A jab from Day finds it's way through Lamar's defenses.
Day moves in looking to clinch but Lamar pushes him off.

and Day counters with a stiff right hand.
Lamar ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Day moves away.

Day tries to clinch but Lamar moves out of range.
Day definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
Lamar has a takedown stuffed.
Kendrick Lamar seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Lamar misses the shot to the body.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Day scores with a nice right hand.

Lamar shoots in and gets a takedown into Day's guard.
Lamar is standing up over Day. Day looks to escape but Lamar dives into side control.
Day knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Lamar on the ground.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Day is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Lamar creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Day sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.

Lamar is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Day is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Day wants to get back to his feet but Lamar drags him back down.
Day on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Day tries to get out of the position.

Lamar working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.

Day managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by Lamar.

Day takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.
Day pushes Lamar away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Lamar gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.
Lamar is looking to take a break and control but Day is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Lamar is trying to get an arm triangle but Day is defending well.

Day is pushing Lamar's head away, looking to escape. Lamar manages to hold on to the position though.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Lamar is working Day over with some ground and pound from side control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Lamar has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Lamar lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
Lamar is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Day can't stay in a position like this for much longer.

Lamar is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Day can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

Lamar lands a big shot there that rocks Day but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
Lamar takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Day is really trying hard to get back to his feet.

Lamar won't let Day get back to his feet... He wants to keep the fight where it is for now.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Kendrick Lamar showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Day tries to clinch there but Lamar circles away.
Lamar goes for a double leg but Day avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Day continues to drive forward.
It looked like Day was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.
Day is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches.

Lamar shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Day's guard.

Day wants to stand and escape but Lamar is having none of it.

Day takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.
Lamar lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.

The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Lamar cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Day is in a horrible position here. Lamar smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.

Lamar quickly switches position and commits to an armbar! It's a big risk for Lamar but it's paid off an Day is forced to tap! Nice work by Lamar.
