Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Cletus Strickland (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Brandon Spikes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 6 - 0, fighting out of New York, Cletus Strickland!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Brandon Spikes!
The judges for this bout are Bruno Lombardi, Anthony Taglia and Jonathan Paton.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Strickland tries to keep at a distance but Spikes has taken the fight into the clinch.

Strickland drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Spikes dives on top into guard.

Spikes ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Spikes no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

Strickland postures up in Spikes's guard and throws a big left but Spikes blocks it.

Spikes seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Strickland drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Spikes dives on top into guard.

Spikes bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
You can see the frustration on Strickland's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Spikes thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Strickland is looking to stand back up but Spikes counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Strickland.

Spikes looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Strickland with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Strickland is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Strickland shoots in for a takedown but Spikes shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Spikes looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Strickland is fending him off so far but Spikes persists. Nope, Strickland circles away and we're back to standing.

Spikes is looking for a kimura but Strickland is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Spikes to get the leverage.

Strickland manages to escape and get back to his feet!

Spikes goes for a takedown attempt but Strickland pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Cletus Strickland is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Spikes shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Strickland pinned against the cage. Strickland gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Spikes will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Strickland throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.

Well Spikes has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
