Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Roberto Barton (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Maximus Alexander (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Maximus Alexander has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Roberto Barton's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Roberto Barton!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Maximus Alexander!
The judges for this bout are Marco Blurström, Johanna Lukiainen and Anni Minnemäki.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Alexander fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Barton stuffs the takedown.
Barton shoots in but no luck this time.
Alexander stuffs the takedown.

Alexander closes the distance and clinches.
Barton blocks a body shot from Alexander.
Barton could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Alexander avoids a wild elbow strike from Barton.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Alexander escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Alexander tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Barton defends well and Alexander ends up having to push Barton into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Barton throws a big counter combination but Alexander scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage.
Roberto Barton has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Maximus Alexander.
Barton tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Alexander paws at him with a jab and circles away.

and Barton counters with a nice double leg into side control. Alexander won't be happy with that.
Alexander wants to get back to his feet but Barton drags him back down.
Alexander takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.

Barton is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Alexander knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
The strikes coming from Barton are missing the target in this wave of attacks.

Alexander throws his opponent off and manages to get back to his feet! Nicely done!

Alexander shoots in for a takedown but Barton shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Barton fires out a quick counter leg kick but Alexander just manages to avoid it.

Barton looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Barton has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Alexander has managed to escape just enough to sneak back to his feet but Barton is on him like a limpet, forcing Alexander back against the cage.
Barton makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut.

Alexander pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Alexander shoots in for a double leg but Barton sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Alexander looks winded!
Alexander finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.

Alexander gets a clinch.

Barton trying to control the position but instead, Alexander has worked for underhooks and has pushed Barton into the cage.
Alexander keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Barton's efforts to push away.
Barton is pushing Alexander up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.
Both fighters working to control the clinch.
Barton misses with a punch on the inside.
Barton just leaning against Alexander, taking a breather.
Barton swings wildly with an uppercut but Alexander uses good head movement to avoid it.
Alexander keeps control of Barton as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Alexander tries to throw a body punch but Barton avoids it by throwing Alexander back against the cage.
Alexander blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.

Alexander manages to break the clinch.

Alexander has taken the fight to the clinch.

Barton breaks from the clinch.
Alexander moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.


It looks like Roberto Barton has been cut.
Barton slaps away a takedown attempt from Alexander, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Barton appears to be looking for a counter takedown.
Alexander connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Barton momentarily.
Alexander shoots in for a takedown but Barton shows good takedown defense.
Barton attempts a counter takedown but Alexander avoids it well and moves away.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Maximus Alexander will probably get the nod.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Alexander lands a nice looking hook to the body, against the cage.
Alexander dodges an elbow strike from Barton.
A short right from Alexander on the inside.
Alexander tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Barton just stands there and leans against the cage.

Alexander fails with a takedown attempt from distance.

Barton feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Barton is standing up over Alexander. Alexander looks to escape but Barton dives into side control.

Barton lands a few punches from side control.
Alexander is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Barton is controlling him well.

Alexander is trying to stand and escape here. He's got onto all fours but that's just let Barton take his back! Uh oh - Barton has got a rear naked choke here! Alexander is forced to tap! It's all over! One monent is all it takes in this sport!
