Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Lucius Perkins!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Calvin Ricard!
The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, William Peck and Ian Loll.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Left hook, right uppercut from Ricard.


It looks like Lucius Perkins has been cut.
Ricard throws a left and a right that both miss

and Perkins counters by clinching up.

Perkins has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Ricard clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!
Perkins throwing wild punches that miss their target.

Even with his hooks in, Perkins manages to miss with strikes from the back.

Perkins looking to break Ricard's wrist control so he can sink in the choke. Ricard remaining controlled and patient though - he really has to keep calm otherwise Perkins will wrap this one up with the rear naked choke!

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Perkins lands with a nice looking elbow that stuns Ricard.

Perkins has his opponent's back but Ricard is looking to stand. He manages to get to his feet and shakes off Perkins.

Ricard has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Perkins is trying to keep an underhook but Ricard manages to get the takedown into half guard.
Ricard is trying to control. Perkins wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Perkins moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Perkins is adopting a defensive guard.

Perkins is working an open guard so Ricard takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Perkins showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Ricard.
Ricard throws a right hand that Perkins ducks under and follows up with a left that Perkins also avoids with ease.

Ricard darts in and clinches Perkins up against the cage.

Perkins breaks the clinch.
No joy there for Ricard, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Perkins throwing a counter right hand but Ricard manages to avoid it.
Perkins shoots in but Ricard avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Ricard fails in his attempt to clinch.

Perkins rushes Ricard and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Perkins goes for a body shot but it's blocked.

Perkins breaks the clinch.
Ricard misses with a series of wild punches.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Ricard throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Perkins.

Perkins moves into the clinch.
Perkins has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Ricard after a bit of a struggle.

Perkins escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Perkins changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Ricard looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
The strikes coming from Perkins are missing the target in this wave of attacks.
Perkins throws a strike aimed at the side of Ricard's head but Ricard avoids it well.
Ricard struggling a bit here.
Ricard pushes Perkins away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Perkins gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Perkins postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Perkins has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Ricard explodes and escapes back to his feet! Nice escape there!
Ricard throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
A little feinted left hand from Perkins on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.
Ricard throws a right and a left that both miss.
Ricard has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
A combination from Ricard does no damage.
Ricard stuffs the takedown attempt from Perkins. Perkins gets slowly back to his feet.
Perkins avoids a punch combination nicely.
Ricard is breathing heavily.
Perkins fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Ricard avoids it really well and circles away.
Ricard tries to clinch
and Perkins counters with a straight punch to the midsection.

Perkins shoots in for a takedown but Ricard shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Lucius Perkins. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Ricard goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.
Calvin Ricard is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Perkins closes the distance and clinches.
Perkins misses with a knee strike.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Ricard wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
Perkins misses with a hook to the ribs.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Calvin Ricard will probably get the nod - 10:9.

Ricard throws a left jab followed by a right to the body, Oh Perkins colapses and takes a barrage of punches from Ricard as he moves to mount! the ref stops the fight and Perkins is left battered and dazed whilst Ricard and his camp cheer!
