Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Hoyt Clay (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Daniel Case (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Hoyt Clay!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Daniel Case!
The judges for this bout are Steve Montenegro, Russell Pearce and Eddie Farnsworth.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Case shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Case has his takedown stuffed
and Clay counters with an outside leg kick.
Case closes the distance and clinches up with Clay, looking for a takedown. Case pushes Clay against the cage but Clay circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Hoyt Clay has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Daniel Case.
Case shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Clay pinned against the cage. Clay gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Case looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Case misses with a takedown attempt - Clay sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Case tries to score a power double leg takedown but Clay sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Case somewhat.

Clay is trying to get an arm triangle but Case is defending well.

Clay wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Case, who protects the arm well.
Case is looking for a sweep.
Case can't do much from the bottom here.
Case is looking to slip a leg under and get half guard but Clay is one step ahead and moves to full mount!
Case is looking to improve his position but Clay isn't that keen on the idea.
Clay lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Case hang on?

Case wants to control but Clay is having none of it.
Case is trying to get to the cage to help him get back to his feet.

Case really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Clay. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Clay breaks from Case's wrist control and lands an elbow.
Clay misses with a head shot.
Clay has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Case's face.
Clay throwing sloppy strikes, which aren't doing any damage.
Case is working to get back to half guard.

Case regains half guard.
Clay perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Case wants to get back to his feet.
Case avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Clay.
Case is trying to stand back up but Clay is controlling him
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Clay is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
Clay seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Case does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Case is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Clay is looking to take a break and control but Case is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

As Case looks to move away, Clay throws a big counter combo but Case just gets out of the way.
Clay could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Case tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Clay defends well and Case ends up having to push Clay into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
It looked like Clay was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.
Daniel Case seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Clay shoots for a double leg takedown but Case sprawls well. He's pushed Clay's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Case tries to keep at a distance but Clay has taken the fight into the clinch.

Clay pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Case thows a huge punch but Clay dodges it nicely.

Clay is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Case is looking to control Clay's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Case avoid being mounted?

Clay is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Case is just riding it out for now. Clay eventually gives up the hold.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Case can do anything to dispel that myth.
Case is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Case dives in and grabs Clay's left leg, looking for a takedown. Clay pushes down on Case's head and hops out.
Clay tries to close the distance and clinch up but Case swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Clay is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Case can do to turn this around?
