Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jason DeBruyn (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Biff Rain (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jason DeBruyn!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Biff Rain!
The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, Don Winkell and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

DeBruyn closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Rain to the mat! Rain manages to get full guard.
Rain looking to control but DeBruyn passes into half guard.
DeBruyn frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
DeBruyn sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
Rain is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Rain tries to hold on but DeBruyn postures up.

Rain avoids a series of strikes thrown by DeBruyn.

Rain reaches up to try and control the position but DeBruyn seems to have an arm triangle now! Uh oh! Rain rolls and tries to escape and now DeBruyn has his back!

DeBruyn is working for the rear naked choke. He has one arm under the chin but Rain has hold of the other arm. A bit of a stalemate here.
The crowd hopeful of a finish here - DeBruyn's supporters are on their feet, screaming for him to go for the rear naked choke.
Rain is defending well here and trying to improve his position.

DeBruyn is persistently looking for the submission but Rain is defending it well.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
DeBruyn keeps control of the position as Rain tries to break free.

I really don't envy Rain right now.

DeBruyn feints and as Rain raises his hands in defense, DeBruyn changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Rain utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Rain is pulling down on DeBruyn's head to control his posture.
Rain looking to control.
DeBruyn controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

Rain is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and DeBruyn defends well.
Rain throwing strikes off his back to little effect.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Rain avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Rain is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

DeBruyn is not content to let Rain control the position.
Rain lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Rain is thwarting DeBruyn's attempts to control the position.
DeBruyn misses with some strikes from the bottom.

DeBruyn trying to hold on to Rain's head to control him but Rain postures up.

DeBruyn is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Rain pulls his head out easily.

Rain is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Rain controlling the pace.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

DeBruyn throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Rain tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. DeBruyn is in Rain's guard.
DeBruyn is standing up over Rain. Rain looks to escape but DeBruyn dives into side control.

Rain struggling a bit here.
DeBruyn is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.
DeBruyn tries to score with some ground and pound. Rain controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.
Rain managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by DeBruyn.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Rain gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there!
Rain is desperately trying to improve his position but DeBruyn has a good base and remains in mount.
DeBruyn controlling the position easily from mount.
Rain is trying to escape the mount.
Rain takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Biff Rain has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Jason DeBruyn is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
