PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Elvin Roberts (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ario Kuramoto (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters will be looking to make this an exciting fight for the fans, I'm sure!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Elvin Roberts!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Ario Kuramoto!
The judges for this bout are Yuuki Gou, Yukihiro Shimada and Tatsuya Matsuyama.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kuramoto misses with a takedown attempt - Roberts sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Roberts clinches up with Kuramoto and pushes him back against the cage.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Roberts shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Kuramoto sprawls well. Kuramoto wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Roberts gets slowly back to his feet.

Kuramoto looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it.

Kuramoto jumps guard but Roberts stands there with Kuramoto around his waist. Kuramoto gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Kuramoto tries to pull guard but Roberts forces him back to his feet, against the cage.

Roberts manages to break the clinch.
Ario Kuramoto seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Kuramoto fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
As Kuramoto tries to get set, Roberts tries to push him back and clinch up but Kuramoto manages to avoid the attempt.
Kuramoto looks winded!

Roberts gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Kuramoto to score an easy takedown into full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Roberts looking for a sweep. Not yet Roberts, not yet.
Roberts knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Kuramoto on the ground.
Roberts bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Kuramoto's guard.

The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Kuramoto is working an open guard so Roberts takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

Roberts tries to clinch up but Kuramoto circles away and keeps his distance.

Roberts rushes Kuramoto and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

Roberts could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Kuramoto is trying to force a seperation but Roberts has the dominant position.

Kuramoto can't break the clinch.
Kuramoto tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Kuramoto wants a takedown but no success here.

Roberts pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Kuramoto fails with the takedown.
It looked like Roberts was trying to counter with a body shot coming off that last attack from Kuramoto.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Roberts tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Kuramoto paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Roberts wants to clinch.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Elvin Roberts will probably get the nod.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!


Kuramoto shoots for a double leg takedown but Roberts sprawls well. He's pushed Kuramoto's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
No luck for Kuramoto with that takedown attempt.

Kuramoto feints and as Roberts raises his hands in defense, Kuramoto changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Roberts might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Roberts is looking to get full guard. It looks like he might be successful but at the last minute Kuramoto jumps into side control!

Kuramoto is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Roberts knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Kuramoto is working to isolate an arm here. It's a telegraphed submission attempt but he's gone for it anyway - and he's got it! Kuramoto extends the arm and Roberts is forced to tap!
