PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Hugo Stiglitz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tani Otoshi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Tani Otoshi was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Hugo Stiglitz!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, Tani Otoshi!
The judges for this bout are Steven Brown, Daniel Bishop and Chris Edwards.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Otoshi looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.
Otoshi pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Stiglitz lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
Stiglitz drops Otoshi with a hook right on the temple. He thinks about going to the ground but Otoshi looks back up at him and smiles so Stiglitz waves him back to his feet - he obviously thinks he can knock him out after that shot landed.

Otoshi is rocked!
Stiglitz throws a right and a left that Otoshi avoids nicely.
Otoshi is still on wobbly legs! Can Stiglitz finish him?
Stiglitz swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Otoshi pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
Stiglitz moves out of range of the leg kick from Otoshi.
Otoshi avoids the body shot from Stiglitz.
Otoshi seems to have recovered his senses.
Stiglitz misses the shot to the body.
Stiglitz throws a big shot that misses.
An inside leg kick from Otoshi misses.
Stiglitz looks to land a left hand but Otoshi moved out of range nicely.
Otoshi wants to clinch.
Stiglitz scores with a jab. Otoshi acknowledges it with a nod of the head.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
A slow jab from Stiglitz misses its intended target.
Otoshi has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Otoshi there as he acknowledges the shot.
Stiglitz stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Otoshi.
Otoshi uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Stiglitz.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Otoshi lands a head kick. Stiglitz smiles back at him and beckons him forward.
Stiglitz throws a hook to the side of Otoshi's head but Otoshi sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
A head kick misses from Otoshi.
Stiglitz takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
A chopping leg kick lands by Otoshi.
Stiglitz misses with a straight left.
Jab, jab by Stiglitz - just one landing.
Otoshi throws a head kick that misses.
Otoshi chopping away at his opponent's legs.
Otoshi lands with a thumping leg kick.
Otoshi bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Otoshi tries to close the distance and clinch up but Stiglitz swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Otoshi fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Otoshi throws a head kick but Stiglitz moves out of range.
Stiglitz stuns Otoshi with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
Otoshi throws a head kick but Stiglitz moves out of range.
Stiglitz drops Otoshi with a left right combo! Stiglitz follows him down to the ground into side control.
Otoshi looks gassed!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Stiglitz tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Otoshi is looking for a sweep.
Stiglitz is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.
Otoshi tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Otoshi wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!
Stiglitz remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.
Otoshi is trying to buck Stiglitz off.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.
Otoshi is trying to escape and get back to his feet.
Otoshi stops Stiglitz from passing to mount.
Stiglitz remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.
Otoshi is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Stiglitz has just dragged him back down to the mat.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Otoshi bucks up and tries to throw Stiglitz off but instead Stiglitz has got his back!
Otoshi is very frustrated here, being controlled quite effectively by Stiglitz.
Otoshi can't escape the position.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
You can see the frustration on Otoshi's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Hugo Stiglitz dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Stiglitz lands with a precision combination! Left, right, uppercut and Otoshi falls flat on his face, eyes wide open but he's out!
