PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Daren William (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Edwin Sanusi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Sanusi is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: NightMare. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Daren William!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Edwin Sanusi!
The judges for this bout are Francis DeMontford, Ben Watson and Winston Howard.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Sanusi throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. William was covering up waiting for the punch and Sanusi finishes the takedown easily into guard.
William is trying to keep Sanusi in close.

William had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Sanusi defends it easily.
William pulls Sanusi in close to his closed guard and prevents Sanusi from doing any damage or advancing position.
Sanusi wants to control from the top but William keeps moving.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

William is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Sanusi is aware though and is defending well.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Sanusi with a flurry of punches that miss.
William not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Sanusi drops back, looking for a kneebar! William looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. William looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from William!

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

William misses with the ground and pound.
William tries to land with some ground and pound but misses.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

William stands up.

Sanusi throws a strike but William rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.


Sanusi is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. William is aware though and is defending well.
Sanusi throws some sloppy strikes off his back.
William stands up over Sanusi, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
William is in close to Sanusi's body, working some short punches and elbows.
William wanted to stand there but Sanusi had control of the position.
William throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Sanusi works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
William works over Sanusi with some ground and pound from guard.
William working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound.
William postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
William cracks Sanusi with a solid left hand.
Sanusi really doesn't want to stay on the ground with William. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Sanusi is trying to control the position but William postures up.
William working some strikes from top position.

Sanusi looks winded!

William struggling a bit here.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
William is in a bad position, trying to hold on for dear life but he is really struggling to maintain any sort of control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Daren William dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


William is looking to take this fight into the clinch.

Sanusi fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. William sprawls well initially but Sanusi persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
William misses with some strikes from the bottom.
William makes his way to full guard. A much better position for William.

William has managed to work for a loose triangle. I think Sanusi should be able to defend this one pretty easily though. Oh, William has tightened it up now! Sanusi should have reacted faster there - he's in big trouble and yes, he's tapped out! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:56 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Daren William!
