The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Shavershian goes for a high kick. It partially lands.
Smith steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Shavershian.
Smith takes one to the chin there.
Smith darts in trying to clinch
and Shavershian counters with a good, hard body kick but Smith shrugs it off.
A slow jab from Smith misses its intended target.
Sloppy strikes from Shavershian. Those never looked like landing.
Smith misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Smith shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Shavershian defends it nicely.
Shavershian looks like he wants to counter punch here.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Shavershian dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Shavershian throws a nice inside leg kick.

Shavershian comes over the top with an elbow. That landed flush.

Shavershian escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Smith tries to close the distance and clinch but Shavershian swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

and Shavershian counters with a left to the body.

Smith throws a head kick but Shavershian moves out of range.
Smith is looking to clinch.
Shavershian throws a counter combo.
Shavershian throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Smith throws a lazy head kick
and Shavershian counters with a stiff right hand.
Shavershian sizes up Smith with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.
Smith tries to clinch there but Shavershian circles away.
Shavershian uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Smith.
Smith darts in looking for a takedown but Shavershian gets double underhooks and turns Smith into the cage.
Shavershian stalks Smith and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Smith's face. Smith staggers backwards, shaken.
Smith drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.
Smith tries for a takedown but Shavershian circles away easily
and Shavershian counters with a stiff right hand.

Shavershian changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.

Smith fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Shavershian throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.
Smith closes this distance looking for a takedown but Shavershian circles away.
Shavershian scores to the head and body with a nice combination!
Shavershian bobs and weaves and then throws a good body kick.
Shavershian scores with a kick to the midsection.
Smith shoots and misses
and Shavershian counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Shavershian throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.
Smith is rocked!
Smith has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Shavershian finds it's way round the side to connect with Smith's head.
Oh Smith is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Smith throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Shavershian's waist but Shavershian gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Smith off to one side.
Smith takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.
Shavershian darts in and lands a big hook, right on the button! Smith's legs crumble underneath him as he falls to the canvas! The ref tackles Shavershian before he gets to land any more shots to his stricken foe.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:59 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Aziz Shavershian!
