PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight kickboxing rules bout between Kazuyoshi Ishii (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jo Smo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Smo has chosen O Le Alofa Lava I Le Manu E as his entrance music. Ishii has a slight injury, which hopefully won't affect the fight too much. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Smo tries a head kick but it misses.
Smo takes one to the chin there.
Smo misses with a head kick.
Smo dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Ishii is breathing heavily.
Smo thows a left - swing and a miss!
Ishii is looking to counter punch.
Ishii closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.

It looks like Kazuyoshi Ishii has been cut.
Smo looking to land some kicks to the body here.
Smo throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Ishii stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Sloppy strikes from Smo. Those never looked like landing.
Smo misses with a jab, cross combination.
A slapping leg kick lands for Smo.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Smo tries to bum rush Ishii with a series of wild strikes but Ishii uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Ishii closes the distance and lands a one-two.
Ishii showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Smo.
Smo looks to land a left hand but Ishii moved out of range nicely.
Smo lands with an overhand left.
Smo checks a leg kick.
Ishii is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Smo.
Ishii takes a swing at Smo's ribcage but misses.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Ishii lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Smo circles away quickly and effectively.
Smo catches Ishii with a right, a left, a right. It's raining punches and Ishii forgot an umbrella! Another punch and he's down. This one is over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:11 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Jo Smo!
After winning the bout, Jo Smo thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
