Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Kania Cup (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and David Blake (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kania Cup could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to David Blake's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Kania Cup!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, David Blake!
The judges for this bout are Shirou Masuda, Shigeki Sano and Yukihiro Shimada.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cup swings away with a body shot that misses

and Blake counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Blake really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Cup. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Blake is working for a kimura but Cup is defending it quite comfortably.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Blake connects with a nice short shot to Cup's temple.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Cup has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Blake is working away from the top position though.

Blake looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Blake wants to work for an arm triangle but Cup is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Cup looks like he's trying to stand up.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Blake cracks Cup with a solid left hand.


It looks like Kania Cup has been cut.
Cup trying to strike from the bottom but really, it's not the best position to be doing that from!
Cup looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.

Blake throwing strikes but missing.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Cup has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Blake can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Cup escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Blake gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Blake would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Blake wants to control from the top but Cup keeps moving.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Cup is looking to stand up but Blake isn't so interested in that idea.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Blake decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Blake is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Cup defends it well.
Cup trying to control here.

Blake is working for a submission of some sort.
Cup is trying to stand.

Blake seems to be looking for submissions.
Cup moves into full guard.
Blake stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Cup swivels though and keeps the full guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Cup utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Blake working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound.
Cup is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Blake tries to roll over but Cup keeps him under control.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Blake can do anything to dispel that myth.

Blake looking for subs from the bottom but Cup mounts him!
Blake wants to get back to his feet.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Cup trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Blake tries to get back to half guard but can't.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

David Blake dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Kania Cup's cut.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Cup swats away the attempt to clinch by Blake.
Blake catches Cup with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!
Blake tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Blake has tried to improve his agility in the runup to this fight.
Cup misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.

Cup is looking for a counter combo.

Blake clinches up with Cup and pushes him back against the cage.
Cup drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Blake gets the underhooks and prevents it.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Blake takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.
Cup has Blake pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Blake manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Kania Cup. That's going to take a lot out of him.

With the fighters clinched against the cage, Blake creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.


Cup is rocked!
Cup stalling in the clinch but Blake improves position.
Oh Cup is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Cup is looking for a takedown.
Cup seems to have got his legs back now.
Blake lands a body punch in the clinch.
Blake pushes Cup back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head.
Cup trying to control the position but instead, Blake has worked for underhooks and has pushed Cup into the cage.

Blake drops Cup onto one knee with a big uppercut from the clinch! Cup is propped up by the cage and works his way back to his feet!


Kania Cup's cut is getting worse.
Cup really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Blake mutters something to Cup before pushing him back against the cage. As Cup comes back towards him, Blake unloads a hook from the very depths of hell that knocks Cup clean out! Oh. My. God. That is some seriously brutal stuff right there! What a knockout!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:54 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). David Blake!
In his post fight interview, David Blake started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
