Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Adam Malysz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Josh Garnett (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Man, I cannot wait for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Adam Malysz!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Josh Garnett!
The judges for this bout are Kenichi Hosakawa, Hirohito Nitta and Yukihiro Shimada.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Malysz gets a takedown into half guard.
Malysz is thwarting Garnett's attempts to control the position.
Garnett is trying to get back to full guard.

Garnett pushes Malysz off and gets back to his feet.

Malysz drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.

Garnett bucks up and manages to escape back to his feet!
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Malysz tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Garnett paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Malysz throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Garnett tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Malysz is in Garnett's guard.

Garnett has scooted to the edge of the canvas and used the cage to get back to his feet. Malysz has stuck on his opponent and is forcing him back against the cage.
Garnett tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Malysz avoids it.

Malysz works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.

Garnett kicks Malysz off and gets to his feet.
Malysz could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Malysz darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Malysz is trying to control. Garnett wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Garnett can do anything to dispel that myth.

Garnett tries to get to full guard but Malysz has control of the leg.
Malysz seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Garnett does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Malysz looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Garnett with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Garnett is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Malysz pulls his head out easily.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Malysz tries a head kick but it misses.

Malysz scores with a takedown into Garnett's guard.
Garnett wants to sweep but no luck.
Malysz is pushing down on Garnett's leg trying to pass to half guard. Garnett is fighting to maintain full guard but Malysz has managed to sneak the leg through.
Garnett won't allow Malysz to pass to mount.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Malysz working over Garnett with some ground and pound. Garnett looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.
Garnett really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Malysz. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Malysz is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Garnett doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Malysz.
Garnett wants to get back to full guard.
Garnett is looking to control Malysz's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Garnett avoid being mounted?

Garnett has one foot on Malysz's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Malysz throws a series of punches but Garnett avoids them all with ease.

Garnett has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Malysz sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Garnett's guard.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by Malysz!

Garnett gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Malysz to score an easy takedown into full guard.

Garnett has his feet on Malysz's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.

Malysz looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.

Garnett pushes Malysz off and gets back to his feet.

Malysz shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Garnett napping and manages to drive through into side control!

A momentary lapse in concentration from Garnett enables Malysz to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Garnett manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Garnett manages to wriggle out and sneak his way back up to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched up against the cage.

Garnett has managed to wall walk up one of the corner posts to get back to his feet. Malysz is pushing him up against the cage, looking to control the position.

Josh Garnett showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Garnett manages to wriggle out and sneak his way back up to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched up against the cage.
