Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Lyle Leggbert (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rollo Smek (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the light heavyweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Lyle Leggbert!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Rollo Smek!
The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, William Peck and Alec Ball.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Leggbert throws a head kick that misses.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Smek tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Leggbert smiles and moves away.
Leggbert throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.


It looks like Rollo Smek has been cut.
Lyle Leggbert seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Leggbert throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Smek is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.

Smek sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.

Leggbert really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Smek can't keep his opponent in guard - Leggbert advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.

Smek is trying to drag Leggbert to the mat but Leggbert just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

Smek has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Leggbert regains guard immediately.

Leggbert lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Smek!

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

That was a close second round but I would say that Lyle Leggbert will probably get the nod.

Smek is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Leggbert is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Smek shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
Leggbert tries to hold on but Smek pushes him away.

Leggbert is trying to escape the mount but Smek keeps good control and instead manages to take Leggbert's back.
Smek is trying to stick to Leggbert's back but Leggbert is turning into Smek. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Smek's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Leggbert.

Both of our modern day gladiators look out of it here - an gruelling 5 rounds of action taking it's toll on them, no doubt.

Smek had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Leggbert is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Smek Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Leggbert's back instead.

Smek is tying to control. Leggbert wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Smek might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Leggbert kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
