Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Matt Mica (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Fadden (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Matt Mica!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, John Fadden!
The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, William Peck and Ian Loll.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mica misses with a takedown attempt - Fadden sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Fadden bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Mica is trying to get back to half guard.
Fadden looking to punish the body of his opponent here but Mica is avoiding damage well.
Fadden wants to lay and pray for a moment but Mica keeps working.

Well, if Mica is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

Mica wants to work for an arm triangle but Fadden is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Mica moves forwards but Fadden connects with a nice, crisp jab.

and Fadden counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.
Nice combo by Fadden! Oh, that's hurt him - Mica falls to the canvas and Fadden follows him into side control.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

Fadden rushes Mica and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

Fadden gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.
Mica pulls Fadden in close to his closed guard and prevents Fadden from doing any damage or advancing position.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.



Fadden decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Mica is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Fadden is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
Fadden wants to take a breather but Mica is having none of it.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Mica with a poor takedown
and Fadden makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
Fadden lands a nice looking kick to the body. Mica takes a step back to recover.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Fadden feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Fadden is working Mica over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.

Fadden postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Fadden wants to control from the top but Mica keeps moving.
Mica wants to control the position but Fadden says "no thanks buddy" and passes to half guard.
Mica is trying is best to control the position here.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Mica drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.

Fadden is in trouble now - Mica has advanced to mount!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

John Fadden showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

John Fadden is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Mica lands a couple of elbows.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Matt Mica.
Well Fadden has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
