PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Michael Campion (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Igor Kolivanov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kolivanov has chosen Russia National Anthem as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Igor Kolivanov!
The judges for this bout are David Hoff, Winston Alpacca and Peter Branson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Campion looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.
Campion tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Kolivanov swivels and escapes.
Campion shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Kolivanov as he avoids it easily.
Kolivanov stuffs the takedown.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Michael Campion. That's going to take a lot out of him.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Campion.
Kolivanov stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Kolivanov wants it to stay on the feet.
A little jabbing left from Kolivanov on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Campion tries to clinch up but Kolivanov circles away and keeps his distance.

Campion tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Kolivanov defends well and Campion ends up having to push Kolivanov into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

Kolivanov is pressed up against the cage. Campion has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Kolivanov down to the mat. Kolivanov avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

Kolivanov swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made.

Kolivanov smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.
Michael Campion seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Campion fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Kolivanov avoids it really well and circles away.
It seemed like Kolivanov was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.
Kolivanov blocks a head kick by Campion.
Kolivanov swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made.
Campion slips under a jab from Kolivanov.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Kolivanov connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.

and Campion counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Campion content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
Campion has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Kolivanov keeping moving, preventing Campion from controlling successfully.

Kolivanov looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.

Campion is pushing down on Kolivanov's leg trying to pass to half guard. Kolivanov is fighting to maintain full guard but Campion has managed to sneak the leg through.
Campion is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
Campion works his foot free and advances to mount.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Campion quickly switches position and commits to an armbar! It's a big risk for Campion but it's paid off an Kolivanov is forced to tap! Nice work by Campion.

A relieved looking Michael Campion thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
