Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Dongstae Friend (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Buddy Elf (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Dongstae Friend!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Buddy Elf!
The judges for this bout are Igor Prikhodko, Ivan Kurochkin and Viktor Lagutenko.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Elf fails to land with a series of punches.
Elf pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
A head kick by Elf misses

so Friend counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Friend content to stall in guard here.
Elf is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Friend is controlling him.
Elf being controlled here, momentarily.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Elf has his feet on Friend's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.

Elf misses with a jab, cross combination.
Buddy Elf seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
A lazy body kick from Elf

and Friend counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Friend slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Friend stands up and waves to Elf to follow him.
Friend throws a head kick but Elf moves out of range.

Friend rushes Elf and presses him up against the cage.

Friend pulls guard successfully.

Elf stands up from Friend's guard - Elf perhaps looking for a knockout.
Elf throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Friend jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Elf fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Friend has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
Friend moves out of range of the body kick from Elf.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Friend looks for a takedown but Elf sprawls well.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Friend goes for a double leg but Elf avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Elf continues to drive forward.
Elf will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Friend throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Elf looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Friend is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Elf.

Friend gets a takedown into half guard.
Friend is breathing heavily.
Friend wants to pass to mount but Elf is defending the position.
Still in half guard, Friend seems content to control.

Friend could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Friend seems to be working for a kimura but Elf defends the submission attempt.
Friend keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.
Friend prevents Elf from standing back up.
Friend seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Buddy Elf will probably get the nod.

Friend is trying hard to land a takedown here. Elf sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Elf tries to land a front kick but Friend steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
Elf throws a wild combination but nothing lands.

The fight moves into the clinch position.

Friend drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Elf gets the underhooks and prevents it.

Elf is trying to push Friend away but Friend has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.
Friend tries to pull guard but Elf forces him back to his feet, against the cage.
The two fighters are working to gain dominance in the clinch.

Friend tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Elf smiles and moves away.
Elf lands with a kick to the ribs.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Elf misses with a two punch combination.
Friend avoids a punch combination nicely.
Friend has been working on his balance at Barbell Brigade, so perhaps that has help him stuff some of the takedown attempts by Elf.
Elf works over Friend's head and body with a nice combination.
Elf has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
No joy there for Elf, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Friend wants to take advantage of his opponent's missed offense by moving into the clinch.
Elf swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Dongstae Friend is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
A head kick from Elf lands but Friend takes it in his stride.
Friend dives in and grabs Elf's left leg, looking for a takedown. Elf pushes down on Friend's head and hops out.

Friend tries to clinch up.
Elf rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Friend moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
A left and a right from Elf both land. Nice combination.

Elf tries to bum rush Friend with a series of wild strikes but Friend uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Elf lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
Elf throws a series of punches but Friend moves out of range.

Friend clinches up against the cage.

Friend is trying to trip Elf. He has hold of a leg but Elf is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Friend persists though and gets the takedown into guard.
Friend might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Elf can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Friend controls the pace.
Elf is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

Friend seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Elf for as long as he can get away with.
Friend has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Friend sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Buddy Elf showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!


Friend tries to clinch up.

Friend closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Elf's guard.
Elf wants to get back to his feet but Friend passes into half guard.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Friend in particular looking to stall.
Elf really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Friend. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Friend works his foot free and advances to mount.

Friend with some aggressive grappling here, looking for the finish.
Friend controlling the pace for now.
Dongstae Friend overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Friend's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
Elf is trying to stand up.
Friend looking to control and managing it successfully.

Friend is looking to work his way around to Elf's back. He needs to be careful though, as he's in danger of losing this dominant position.

Friend has control of Elf's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Elf regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Friend fails to move to back control.
Friend controlling the position easily from mount.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Dongstae Friend has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Buddy Elf is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

And that's the end of the fight!
Dongstae Friend showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Elf has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
