PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Tom Odonnell (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Salim Sadulaev (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The key to victory for Tom Odonnell has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Tom Odonnell!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Salim Sadulaev!
The judges for this bout are Igor Prikhodko, Sergei Dronov and Illya Tyunina.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Odonnell misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Odonnell fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Sadulaev tries to counter with a clinch but Odonnell shakes him off and moves away.
Odonnell tries to close the distance and clinch but Sadulaev swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Sadulaev closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Sadulaev is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Odonnell's shoulder. That is not cool.

Sadulaev stands up and beckons Odonnell to his feet.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Odonnell decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

Sadulaev shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Odonnell's guard.

It looks like Sadulaev might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Odonnell throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Sadulaev was covering up waiting for the punch and Odonnell finishes the takedown easily into guard.

The fighters are working up against the cage. Sadulaev manages to wriggle his way back to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched against the cage.

Salim Sadulaev showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!

Well Sadulaev has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
