PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight kickboxing rules bout between Joe Black (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Que (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have solid standup skills and neither is particularly fantastic on the ground, so let's hope for a nice standup war!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the middleweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Joe Black!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, John Que!
The judges for this bout are , Don Winkell and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Que avoids the head kick by Black.
Que has done a lot of speed work in the buildup to this fight.
Black tries to land a front kick but Que steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
Que ducks under a wild hook from Black.
It seemed like Que was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.
John Que seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Que drives through and clinches with Black against the ropes.
Black lands on the inside with an uppercut.
A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors.
A head punch on the inside from Black fails to land.
Black stalling the fight.

Black breaks the clinch.
Que lands a head shot.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Que ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
Que takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
Black misses with a body punch
letting Que counter with a right hand.
Que moves into range and connects with a jab.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Que has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Que there as he acknowledges the shot.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Black throws a leg kick which misses Que's front leg but catches the back leg as Que tries to avoid it.
Que takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.

Que moves into range and clinches up with Black.
Black misses with the head strike.
Que swings wildly with an uppercut but Black uses good head movement to avoid it.
Que has a couple of punches blocked by Black.
Que lands a right hand.
Black misses with a punch to the body.
Que lands on the inside with an uppercut.
Black lands with a right to the head.
Que misses with a punch on the inside.
Que misses with a hook from the clinch.
Black is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Black will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Que up against the ropes.
Que lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage.
Black misses with a hook from the clinch.

Black manages to break the clinch.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Que throws a jab but it's blocked by Black.
Black fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Que.
Black takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Black pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Black is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Que.
Black needs to keep his hands up - Que had a free shot at his head there.
Black connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but John Que will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the ring so we can get back down to business.


Que misses with a looping right.
Black looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio.
Que tries to grapple but his opponent circles
and Black counters with a two punch combo.
Que throws an off balance right hand
and Black counters with a thumping low kick.
Joe Black is winning the standup battle so far.
Que tries to clinch there but Black circles away.
Black looked to counter that last move with a leg kick but didn't pull the trigger.
Black throws a push kick but Que slaps the foot to one side.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Que! But no joy.
Que clobbers Black with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
Black swats away the attempt to clinch by Que.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Black throws a body punch but Que moves out of range.
Black ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Nice straight punches there by Black. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Black.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Black takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.
Que tries to close the distance and clinch up but Black swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Jab, jab by Que - just one landing.
Black throws a hook to the side of Que's head but Que sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Que misses with a left hand
and Black counters with a good low kick that Que was not able to check.
Que doesn't manage to clinch there - Black circles away.
Black was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.
Que throws out a loose jab but Black uses good head movement to avoid it.
Que darts in and out, connecting with a jab.
Decent striking displayed by Black there.
Black swings widly with a right hand
and Que counters with a stiff right hand.
Que lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Black just misses with a punch to the body.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A jab from Black finds it's way through Que's defenses.
Black takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
Que uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Black.

Black has closed the distance and engaged Que in a clinch.
A battle for position here, against the ropes.

Que breaks from the clinch.
Que misses with a jab, cross combination.
Black looks to score with a jab to the body but Que is just out of range.
Black misses with a lunging right hand
and Que counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Que throws a big shot that misses.
Que looks to score with a jab to the body but Black is just out of range.
Que might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.
Que connects with a good right hand that stumbles Black. Black circles away out of range and recomposes himself.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but John Que will probably get the nod - 10:9.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


A solid leg kick lands there for Black.
A shot to the liver by Black. Beautiful body shot.

Que forces Black back against the ropes and clinches.
Black fails to land with a short punch on the inside.

Black's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Black takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.
Black throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Que avoids the body shot from Black.
Que scores with a nice right hand.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Que slips a jab and a cross from Black.

Black moves into the clinch.
Que misses with a punch on the inside.
Black misses with the head strike.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Que escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Que circles away from the clinch attempt.
Que swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Black counters with a left to the body.
Black fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Que checks it well.
Que cracks Black with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
Que bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Black's head backwards.

Black misses with a lunging right hand
enabling Que to counter with a crisp jab.


Black is rocked!
Que closes the distance and catches Black with a lead hook that drops him to the canvas! Black is clearly dazed and struggling here! 3,4,5,6,7 and Black is up to his feet but the referee has called it off! Black is still far too wobbly and he's not going to allow the fight to continue! Que takes it!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:46 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punch). John Que!
John Que is the new middleweight champion!
An out of breath and clearly excited John Que thanked Voodoo Nutrition for their help and support (and free stuff they sent him).
Joe Black was interviewed post fight and said 'I will be back for the title'.
