Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Joe Young (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Von Fairfax (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Joe Young!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Von Fairfax!
The judges for this bout are Columbo Gatti, Joseph Jones and Eddie Farnsworth.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Young feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Young is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Young decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Young fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Fairfax to the ground. Young is now in Fairfax's guard.
Young is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

Fairfax working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Young doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Young manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Fairfax striking off his back but it's not causing Young any problems.

Young postures up and lands a big shot to Fairfax's brow.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Young looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
Young seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Fairfax for as long as he can get away with.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Young clinches up with Fairfax and pushes him back against the cage.
Young is trying to drag Fairfax to the mat but Fairfax just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

Fairfax can't find room to land a body shot as Young controls the action.

Fairfax is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Young can't fight it off and eventually Fairfax manages to take the fight to the floor. Young looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Young pushes Fairfax off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.

Fairfax tries to sprawl but Young drives through with a takedown into half guard.
Young content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
Fairfax wants to get back to full guard.
Young keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.
Young is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Fairfax tries to hold on but Young pushes him away.
Young takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Young has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Fairfax tries to lock up and control but Young gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Young sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Fairfax gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Young to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Young is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

This is a sustained period of stalling by Young.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Young closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Young stands up and we're back to a striking position.

Fairfax clinches up with Young and pushes him back against the cage.

Fairfax manages to break the clinch.

Fairfax breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Fairfax gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Fairfax wants to sweep but no luck.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Young is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!

Fairfax trying to get back to full guard but Young takes advantage of the position and moves to full mount!
Fairfax is looking to improve his position but Young isn't that keen on the idea.
Young looking to control and managing it successfully.

Young takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Fairfax trying desperately to get to his feet.
Young tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Joe Young overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Young moves to take his opponent's back.
Fairfax is being controlled on the ground here - he must escape this position otherwise surely the end is near.

Fairfax is trying to get back to his feet but he's not managed it yet.
Young has the hooks sunk in and you can see the will to fight slowly draining out of Fairfax's body.
Young's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

A bit of a pause in the action here. Young controlling the positon.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Young continues to hold on tight.

Fairfax just trying to survive but Young is wriggling into a better position, looking to finish.
Young has good solid back control here.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Von Fairfax has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Joe Young is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Fairfax tries to escape the position.

Joe Young showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Young, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
