Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jarrett Steele (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mohamed Al Ajmi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Jarrett Steele!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Mohamed Al Ajmi!
The judges for this bout are Matti Vanhoillinen, Marco Blurström and Tarja Halkonen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Al Ajmi shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Steele's guard.

Steele has his feet on Al Ajmi's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.
Al Ajmi looks to throw a body kick

and Steele counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.

Steele will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Steele is working for a kimura but Al Ajmi is defending it quite comfortably.

Steele is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Al Ajmi defends it well.
Steele lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Al Ajmi has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Steele is working away from the top position though.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Steele in particular looking to stall.

Still in half guard, Steele seems content to control.
Al Ajmi is looking for a sweep. Steele is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Steele looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.

Steele decides to stand up.

Al Ajmi closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Steele quickly recovers to half guard.

Steele manages to escape and get back to his feet!

Steele gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Al Ajmi to score an easy takedown into full guard.

The fighters are working up against the cage. Steele manages to wriggle his way back to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched against the cage.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Al Ajmi throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Steele was covering up waiting for the punch and Al Ajmi finishes the takedown easily into guard.

The fighters are working up against the cage. Steele manages to wriggle his way back to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched against the cage.

Steele gets a nice trip takedown into half guard.
Steele takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Al Ajmi wants to improve his position but Steele is controlling well.
Steele lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
Steele has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Al Ajmi is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Steele scores with a couple of nice shots.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

A momentary lapse in concentration from Al Ajmi enables Steele to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Al Ajmi manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Steele drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Al Ajmi gets the underhooks and prevents it.

Steele feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

This has been an exciting period of action!

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Steele connects with a nice short shot to Al Ajmi's temple.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Steele, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
