PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Homer Simpson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Roman Kvasov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kvasov has chosen Diskoteka avaria-Nebo as his entrance music. The fight MMA fans around the world have waited their entire lives for!

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 21 - 13 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Homer Simpson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 38 - 42 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Roman Kvasov!
The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, Stewart Dunkirk and Tiny Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A punch lands to the side of Simpson 's head but he takes it in his stride.
Simpson takes one to the chin there.
Simpson ducks under a wild hook from Kvasov.
Simpson attempts a counter takedown but Kvasov avoids it well and moves away.
Roman Kvasov seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Kvasov clobbers Simpson with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.

Kvasov lands a big head kick that sends Simpson tumbling to the mat! Kvasov takes a step backwards and waves Simpson back to his feet - he wants the finish!

Simpson looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Kvasov closes the distance and pushes Simpson back into the cage.
Simpson has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Kvasov avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

Simpson escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Kvasov gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Simpson is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
Simpson tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Kvasov throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Simpson works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Kvasov slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Kvasov wants to stand but Simpson has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Simpson controls Kvasov momentarily but Kvasov frees himself.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Kvasov wants to stand and escape but instead Simpson has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.

Kvasov really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Simpson. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Kvasov accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Simpson's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Kvasov connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Simpson scrambles back to his feet.

so Simpson counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Simpson has Kvasov pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Simpson pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Kvasov tumbling to the mat - Simpson dives into Kvasov's guard.
