Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 1 - 1, fighting out of Amsterdam, Victor Vessla!
The judges for this bout are Radbod Blank, Aafke Stam and Paulsen Ambrosius.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Vessla misses with an uppercut. Hughes saw that one coming.
Vessla punishes Hughes's body with a nice straight punch.

Hughes has managed to clinch.
Vessla gets underhooks to prevent Hughes's takedown attempt.
Vessla doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
Vessla scores with a shoulder strike.
Vessla scores with an uppercut up the middle.
A body shot lands from Vessla.
Hughes can't break the clinch.

Hughes manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.

Hughes had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Vessla defends it easily.
Hughes is trying to keep Vessla in close.

Hughes looking for a guillotine here but Vessla defends easily.

Hughes controlling the position.
Hughes seems to have improved his submission grappling technique since last time we saw him. Let's see if he can pull off a submission.
Hughes not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Vessla must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Vessla is stalling in the full guard.

Hughes is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Hughes is trying to control the position but Vessla postures up.

Hughes working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Vessla doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Oh but Hughes is tightening it up a little... Vessla has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! Vessla reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! Vessla taps out! Nice BJJ there by Hughes!
