Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Jake Way (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Earl Vespa (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Earl Vespa is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jake Way!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Earl Vespa!
The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Stewart Dunkirk and Cecil Peabody.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Way works the jab nicely.

Way gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Way is trying to break the clinch but Vespa has him pressed against the cage.
Way wants to break free but Vespa has control.
Way tries for a takedown. No joy.

Way pulls guard effortlessly.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Vespa wants to get up but he can't break Way's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Vespa prevents Way from getting back to his feet.
Vespa wants to stand but Way is controlling his posture from full guard.
Way is trying to control the position from the bottom.

Way had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Vespa is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Way Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Vespa's back instead.
Vespa trying to control but he's just got himself in more trouble.
Vespa turns into Way and is now in his guard.

Vespa gets to his feet. Way looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

It looks like Earl Vespa has been cut.

Way displaying some good clinch control by pressing Vespa up against the cage.

A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors.

Way drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.

Way stands up and beckons Vespa to his feet.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Way digs a good hook to Vespa's body.
Vespa takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.

Jake Way overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Way has control of Vespa's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Vespa regains control of the situation pretty easily.
