Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Lucas Kaye (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Darren Mayhew (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Darren Mayhew was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kaye lands a high kick!
Kaye throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Kaye takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.

It looks like Lucas Kaye has been cut.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Kaye is defended easily by Mayhew.

Kaye misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Mayhew.
Mayhew has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.

Kaye slips a jab and a cross from Mayhew.
Kaye shoots for a double leg takedown but Mayhew sprawls well. He's pushed Kaye's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Kaye has been working on his balance at Cozad The Island, so perhaps that has help him stuff some of the takedown attempts by Mayhew.
Mayhew jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Kaye walks away with a smile on his face. Mayhew gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Darren Mayhew seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Mayhew clobbers Kaye with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.

With the fighters up against the cage, Kaye throws an elbow but misses.

This has been an exciting period of action!
Kaye tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Mayhew manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Mayhew throws a looping overhand right but Kaye ducks down to avoid it.
Kaye dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Kaye fakes a jab and scores with a low kick.

Kaye closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Mayhew's guard.
Kaye is standing up over Mayhew. Mayhew looks to escape but Kaye dives into side control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Well Mayhew has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
