Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
16 - 4 - 0, fighting out of London, Jermaine Wright!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
6 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Rio Yaj!
The judges for this bout are Andrew Berry, James Ackerman and Colin Fotheringham.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Some wild striking there from Yaj.
Wright tries to counter by moving into the clinch but Yaj manages to circle out of the way.
Yaj lands with a shot to the body.
Yaj throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Yaj fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Wright stuffs the takedown.
Yaj misses the body punch
and Wright counters with an inside leg kick.
Yaj throws a series of punches but Wright moves out of range.
Yaj swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
It looked like Wright was trying to counter with a body shot coming off that last attack from Yaj.
Wright slips under a jab from Yaj.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Wright throws out a powerful jab.
Yaj shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
It looks like Rio Yaj has been cut.
Wright lands a big right hand that sends Yaj crashing to the mat! Wright stays standing though and waves Yaj back to his feet!
Yaj is rocked!
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Yaj tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Wright defends well and Yaj ends up having to push Wright into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Jermaine Wright has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Rio Yaj.
Yaj looks winded!
Wright lands an uppercut out of nowhere! Yaj falls backwards - clearly groggy! Wright dives in and finishes the fight with more strikes for a TKO finish!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:57 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Jermaine Wright!
Jermaine Wright spent the whole post fight interview bigging himself up. It didn't go down that well with the fans after a while as they thought it was a bit arrogant.
