Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Alberto Christian (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gregor McConor (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Alberto Christian!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Gregor McConor!
The judges for this bout are Colin Fotheringham, Paul Tew and James Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by McConor.

McConor gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
McConor looks to throw an elbow but misses.

Christian manages to pull guard.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as McConor accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
McConor wants to stand but Christian has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
McConor trying to control the position from guard on top but Christian is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
McConor tries to free his leg and advance position but Christian is retaining full guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
McConor prevents Christian from getting back to his feet.
McConor slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

That's one minute gone in the round.
McConor throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Christian works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
McConor trying to pass the guard. He's being very persistent here but Christian manages to land a sweep and now he's on top!

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
McConor trying to punch from his back but it's not doing any damage.

McConor is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Christian accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Christian got a little sloppy there for a moment and McConor has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Christian has managed to get both his arms back between McConor's legs - danger averted.
McConor is trying to control the position from the bottom.

McConor is looking for a triangle but Christian pushes his legs off easily.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Christian moves out of range of the body kick.
As McConor tries to get set, Christian tries to push him back and clinch up but McConor manages to avoid the attempt.
McConor's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and McConor duly obliges.


Christian is rocked!


It looks like Alberto Christian has been cut.

McConor closes the distance and clinches.
Oh Christian is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!

McConor breaks the clinch.
McConor lands a kick to the ribs of his opponent. Nice work there - in and out in a flash.
McConor throws a head kick but Christian moves out of range.
Christian changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit.
Christian seems to have got his legs back now.
Christian tries to close the distance and clinch up but McConor swats him away and circles back towards the center.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
McConor tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Christian tries to counter by clinching up but McConor breaks away and moves out of range.
Christian shoots in for a takedown but McConor shows good takedown defense.
Despite the aggression on McConor's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter.

Christian looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for McConor!
McConor tries to get back to his feet but has found himself mounted instead. Damn, that's gotta suck.
Christian mounts McConor! Really nice guard pass there!
Christian controlling the pace for now.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Christian goes for an armbar but he's not got it… McConor turns into him and now he's in Christian's guard.
McConor is fighting to break Christian's control of his arms but Christian is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Christian's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Gregor McConor dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Alberto Christian's cut.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.



Christian has closed the distance and engaged McConor in a clinch.

Christian breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

McConor has taken the fight to the clinch.
Christian is looking for a takedown up against the cage. McConor gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
McConor is looking for a takedown.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

McConor ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. McConor no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Christian stays in close to McConor's body and controls the position.

Christian is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
Christian throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as McConor works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
McConor controls Christian momentarily but Christian frees himself.
McConor is striking from the bottom but Christian uses the opportunity to pass into half guard.

Christian drops an elbow to the side of McConor's head.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Christian prevents McConor from improving his position.
McConor trying to control here.
McConor keeps control of the position for the meantime.
McConor has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
McConor tries to roll over but Christian keeps him under control.
McConor is looking to control Christian's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can McConor avoid being mounted?
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

McConor on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.
McConor trying to control from the bottom.
McConor is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Christian clinches.
McConor tries to land knees in the clinch but Christian avoids the damage to the body.
McConor tries to pull guard but Christian holds him up against the cage and eventually McConor drops back down to his feet.
McConor blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
McConor is trying to pull guard but Christian has him pressed against the cage.
Alberto Christian has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Gregor McConor.

McConor breaks the clinch.
McConor throws a combination that misses

and Christian holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Christian is pressed up against the cage. McConor has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Christian down to the mat. Christian avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Christian is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
McConor throws a nice looking combination but Christian bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Christian throws a quick counter kick to the body but McConor avoids it.
McConor connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!


McConor keeps Christian at a distance using the push kick.

Christian rushes McConor and presses him up against the cage.
McConor misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Christian.

McConor decides to pull guard.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now McConor is on top in guard.

McConor being controlled here momentarily.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Christian looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
McConor trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
McConor trying to control the position from guard on top but Christian is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
McConor looking to sit in guard and control but Christian gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
McConor is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Christian is controlling him.
Christian lands a couple of decent looking shots.

McConor looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Christian passes into half guard.
Christian thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed McConor's head.
Christian with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.
McConor wants to control but Christian is keeping busy and won't allow it.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Christian slips a nice elbow through McConor's hands, connecting with McConor's forehead.
Christian prevents McConor from improving his position.
Christian working over McConor with some ground and pound. McConor looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.
McConor has hold of Christian's hands but Christian slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
McConor tries to get to full guard but Christian has control of the leg.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
McConor takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

McConor is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Christian pulls his head out easily.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Christian closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
McConor is looking for a sweep.
Christian in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows.
McConor tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Christian wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Christian really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Christian stands up.

McConor gets in close and instigates a clinch.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Alberto Christian.
I think Christian has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
