The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Gonawyn dodges an elbow strike from Velasquez.
Velasquez is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.

Gonawyn has picked Velasquez up - he's going for a ride! Gonawyn dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.

Velasquez is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Gonawyn defends well.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Velasquez has his foot on Gonawyn's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Gonawyn works his way back into a safe position though.

Velasquez has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Gonawyn can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Velasquez had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Gonawyn defends it easily.

Velasquez wants to sweep but no luck.

Oh but Velasquez is tightening it up a little... Gonawyn has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight!
