PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Petr Kropotkin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mario Puzo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Kropotkin might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Distress - Progress/Regress. Puzo has chosen Speak Softly Love as his entrance music. Man, I cannot wait for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 4 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Petr Kropotkin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 6 - 0, fighting out of New York, Mario Puzo!
The judges for this bout are Steve Montenegro, David Schapiro and Dean Styles.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Puzo uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Kropotkin.
Puzo fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Kropotkin has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
Puzo takes one on the chin but seems OK.
Kropotkin misses with the combination.
Puzo tries to counter with a clinch but Kropotkin shakes him off and moves away.
Petr Kropotkin seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Kropotkin keeps the fight on the outside.
Kropotkin throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Puzo has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.
Kropotkin throws a body punch but Puzo moves out of range.
Kropotkin throws a right and a left that both miss.
Kropotkin connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.
Puzo slips a jab and a cross from Kropotkin.
Puzo wants to counter with a clinch but Kropotkin pushes him away.
Kropotkin moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot.
Kropotkin throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Puzo sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Kropotkin misses with a lunging right hand
and Puzo makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick.
Kropotkin misses with a body shot.
Kropotkin comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Kropotkin fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
Kropotkin looks to score with a jab to the body but Puzo is just out of range.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Kropotkin rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Puzo moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Puzo looks to clinch
and Kropotkin counters with a three punch combo that has Puzo backing up. Puzo nods at Kropotkin to acknowledge the strikes.
Kropotkin is looking to wear down Puzo with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment.
Kropotkin scores with a nice strike.
Puzo is looking to clinch but Kropotkin is avoiding it.
Kropotkin takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.
Puzo throws a lazy right hand but Kropotkin sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Kropotkin takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.
Sloppy strikes from Kropotkin. Those never looked like landing.
Puzo takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Puzo misses the jab.
Kropotkin swung with a counter punch to the body but it didn't connect.
Puzo jabs Kropotkin to the body, keeping him at a distance.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Puzo takes a swing at Kropotkin's ribcage but misses.
Kropotkin tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Puzo was well out of range. Poor timing from Kropotkin.
Kropotkin throws a left and a right that both miss
and Puzo counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Kropotkin tries to bum rush Puzo with a series of wild strikes but Puzo uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Puzo ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Puzo tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Kropotkin manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Puzo misses with a body shot.
Kropotkin misses with a series of wild punches.
Kropotkin keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Puzo.
Kropotkin lands a jab to the nose.
Kropotkin tries to check a leg kick but that clearly hurt him.
Kropotkin has been working on his boxing with his coaches at LOD: Contenders in the buildup to the fight.
Puzo throws an overhand right that lands on Kropotkin's shoulder, as Kropotkin tries to avoid the shot.

Puzo instigates a clinch.
A short right from Kropotkin.
Kropotkin tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.
Kropotkin scores with a nice hook to the head.
Kropotkin can't find room to land a body shot as Puzo controls the action.
Puzo prevents a body shot from Kropotkin.
A body shot lands from Puzo.
Kropotkin swings wildly with an uppercut but Puzo uses good head movement to avoid it.
Kropotkin scores with a shoulder strike.
Puzo lands a right hand.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Puzo throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Kropotkins head.
A short right hand to the side of the head by Kropotkin.
Puzo prevents a body shot from Kropotkin.
Kropotkin tries to work over Puzo's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.

Kropotkin pulls guard effortlessly.

Puzo got a little sloppy there for a moment and Kropotkin has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Puzo has managed to get both his arms back between Kropotkin's legs - danger averted.
Puzo trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Kropotkin looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

Puzo stands over his opponent and dives in with a flying punch! Kropotkin throws up his legs and catches Puzo in a triangle! Oh this looks tight! Puzo tries to escape but he's forced to tap! Wow, fantastic work there by Kropotkin! That came out of nowhere!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:53 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle Choke). Petr Kropotkin!
Petr Kropotkin was full of energy after the big win and talked about how he thinks he can do big things in this sport. The crowd were appreciative of his determination to succeed.
