PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ryoto Machida (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Johnny Kid (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kid shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Machida pinned against the cage. Machida gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Kid scores with a takedown into Machida's guard.
Machida is looking to stand up but Kid isn't so interested in that idea.
Machida trying desperately to get back to his feet here but he's not having any joy at all. He's going to tire himself out if he's not careful.

Kid drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Machida manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Kid has Machida in his guard.

Kid has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Machida can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Machida wanted to stand there but Kid had control of the position.

Kid has his foot on Machida's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Machida works his way back into a safe position though.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Kid drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Machida throws a nice elbow from the bottom.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Kid wants to pass the guard but Machida is keeping the position.

Kid is looking to sinch up a triangle. Machida throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to Kid's body to avoid the submission. Kid has instead reached around Machida's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! Kid arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.
