PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Shin Dong Hyuk (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and The Hound (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 14 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, The Hound!
The judges for this bout are Donald Grub, James Glass and William Gold.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dong Hyuk keeps the fight on the outside.
Dong Hyuk looks for the body kick but Hound saw that one coming.
Hound lets it all go there with a big combo counter but none of the punches connected.
Some bone on bone action there as Hound checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.
Dong Hyuk throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Hound.

We've been hearing reports that Dong Hyuk has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight.

Hound is fighting off a takedown attempt but Dong Hyuk is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Hound to the mat. Hound regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.

Hound content to sit in guard, stalling... Great. Oh but he could get punished here because Dong Hyuk has locked up a guillotine! Dong Hyuk's face is contorted as he sqeezes tight on the submission attempt - will he finish? Hound is holding on here and Dong Hyuk must be using up a lot of energy. Hound has gone limp! He's out! He's out cold! Dong Hyuk gets to his feet, tossing aside his stricken foe. Arms raised, he milks the applause from the crowd. Great submission!

Shin Dong Hyuk decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
