Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 18 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Eduardo Alvarez!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 20 - 14 - 0, fighting out of New York, Roger Cantor!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Timothy Bukovac and Don Winkell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cantor bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
A swing and a miss from Cantor.
Eduardo Alvarez seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Alvarez is looking to score with low kicks.
Nice defenses there by Cantor.
Cantor flicks out a counter leg kick but Alvarez steps away.
Cantor slips a straight right by Alvarez.

Alvarez gets in close and instigates a clinch.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Alvarez.

Cantor escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Alvarez connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Cantor momentarily.
Cantor looks to throw the jab but Alvarez is out of range.
Cantor cracks a nice hook into Alvarez's ribs.

Cantor looking to score a takedown here. Alvarez is defending well but Cantor drives through and ends up in Alvarez's guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Cantor wants to control from the top but Alvarez keeps moving.
Cantor postures up in Alvarez's guard and throws a big left but Alvarez blocks it.

Alvarez has his foot on Cantor's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Cantor works his way back into a safe position though.
Cantor missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Alvarez wants to sweep here but Cantor controlling him for the moment.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Alvarez lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Cantor at a distance.
Cantor missing with a left hand there. Alvarez was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Cantor looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Cantor circles away from the clinch attempt.
Alvarez looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Cantor is fending him off so far but Alvarez persists. Nope, Cantor circles away and we're back to standing.

Cantor avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Alvarez throws a nice looking combination but Cantor bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Alvarez darts in looking for a takedown but Cantor gets double underhooks and turns Alvarez into the cage.

Alvarez throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Cantor looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it.
Alvarez slips a jab from Cantor.
Cantor buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Cantor throws a body punch but Alvarez moves out of range.
Alvarez motions for Cantor to come forward. Alvarez throws a leg kick but it misses it's target.
Cantor drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Alvarez defends it well.

Alvarez tries to sprawl but Cantor drives through with a takedown into half guard.

Alvarez is looking for a sweep. Cantor is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Cantor is trying to control. Alvarez wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Cantor might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Alvarez haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
The fighters are battling for position here. Alvarez manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
Alvarez has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Alvarez has been working on his balance at LOD: Purpose Training Center™ , so perhaps that has help him stuff some of the takedown attempts by Cantor.
Alvarez throws a hook but Cantor avoids it easily.
Cantor cracks Alvarez with an open hand slap.
Cantor displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Alvarez throws out the jab.
Cantor tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.

A looping hook to the body misses from Alvarez. Cantor does a little dance to reset his feet.
A clash of legs there as Cantor blocks the low kick.
Alvarez throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Cantor lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
Alvarez tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Cantor was well out of range. Poor timing from Alvarez.
Cantor has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Cantor wants the takedown. Alvarez is fighting it off but Cantor persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Alvarez's guard against the cage.

Cantor is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Alvarez is in a bad position, trying to hold on for dear life but he is really struggling to maintain any sort of control.

Alvarez will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Alvarez is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Cantor off and has taken his back!

Alvarez seems to be going for a rear naked choke. He has an arm under Cantor's chin but Cantor turns very nicely into Alvarez's guard. Good BJJ skills being displayed there by Cantor.

I've got Cantor winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
