Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Derek Patterson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Kenji Sato!
The judges for this bout are Jonathan Paton, Alyssa Summers and Bruno Lombardi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Patterson tries to score a power double leg takedown but Sato sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Patterson somewhat.
Patterson shoots and misses
and Sato connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Patterson lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Sato circles away quickly and effectively.
Sato lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.
Patterson definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
Patterson takes a head kick and keeps coming.


It looks like Derek Patterson has been cut.
Derek Patterson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

and Sato counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.

Patterson wants to control from the top but Sato keeps moving.
Sato is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Patterson dives into side control.

Sato feints and then winds up with a huge right hand that connects perfectly and sends Patterson sprawling to the canvas! Patterson rolls over backwards and springs off the cage and manages to regain his footing - how acrobatic! Oh, he's still wobbly - can Sato finish him?!
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Sato misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

Sato drops Patterson with a beautiful combination! Patterson stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - Sato is looking for the KO!
Patterson steps to his left, right into the path of a big body kick from Sato. That one must have hurt.
A nice inside leg kick there by Sato. That's going to slow Patterson down.
Sato lands with an overhand left.
Kenji Sato is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Sato drops Patterson with a huge uppercut! Patterson drops to the floor like a sack of potatoes. Sato is raining down punches and the ref stops the fight! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:33 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Kenji Sato!
A very excited looking Kenji Sato made sure he remembered to thank all the fans both in the arena and on the internet. He said all the coolest people spend all day on MMA websites, which got a big reaction.
