Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Hyman Serrano (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and David Franklin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). David Franklin has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Hyman Serrano!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, David Franklin!
The judges for this bout are Lou da Vinci, Steve Montenegro and Reed Andrews.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Franklin shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Serrano napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Serrano is trying to control Franklin's posture but Franklin avoids it.
Serrano controls the position for a moment.
Serrano tries to buck Franklin off but Franklin is having none of it.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Serrano can't do much from the bottom here.

You can see the frustration on Serrano's face as Franklin controls the position.
Serrano really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Franklin tries to move to mount but Serrano blocks the move with his legs.

Franklin is covering up but some of the strikes from Serrano are getting through and doing damage.
Oooh a big shot gets through from Serrano. Many more shots like that and the referee will have to think about stepping in!

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
You can see the frustration on Franklin's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.
Franklin is trying to get back to his feet but Serrano has full control of the position and if anything, Franklin has just worked his way into a worse spot.

Serrano has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Serrano seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.

Serrano is nestled in close to Franklin, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Franklin can do anything to dispel that myth.

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Serrano is landing with some decent strikes but Franklin is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.

Franklin fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Serrano sprawls well initially but Franklin persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Serrano holds on and takes a little breather.
