PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between George Saint Piere (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Michael Jordan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Michael Jordan will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, George Saint Piere!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Michael Jordan!
The judges for this bout are Sergei Dronov, Ivan Kurochkin and Valeri Chadov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jordan throws out a leg kick but Piere moves out of range and Jordan only half commits.

Piere shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Jordan is trying to defend but Piere finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Piere is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Jordan doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Piere.

Piere is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Jordan is just riding it out for now. Piere eventually gives up the hold.
Jordan is positioning himself well to prevent Piere advancing to mount.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Piere is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Jordan bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!

Piere wants to control but Jordan postures up.
Piere is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Jordan is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
Jordan wants to lay and pray for a moment but Piere keeps working.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

It looks like Jordan might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

Jordan closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Piere to the mat! Piere manages to get full guard.

Piere is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Piere escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Jordan gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Jordan wants to stand but Piere has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Jordan throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Jordan stuffs the takedown.
Jordan clobbers Piere with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
Piere gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Jordan counters by moving into the clinch.
Jordan has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Piere shoots for a double leg takedown but Jordan sprawls well. He's pushed Piere's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Jordan connects with a nice short shot to Piere's temple.

Jordan seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Piere does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Piere is working hard here to advance position.

Well, if Jordan is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Piere is staying active underneath Jordan, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Piere throws a few strikes from the bottom but Jordan takes advantage and mounts!
Jordan is landing with some decent strikes but Piere is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Jordan can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Piere is looking to escape.
Piere swinging wildly from the bottom but he's not landing.

Michael Jordan comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Jordan has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
