Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Butch Larson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Larry Mayflower (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Butch Larson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 5 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Larry Mayflower!
The judges for this bout are Konstantin Menshow, Illya Tyunina and Ivan Kurochkin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Larson defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Mayflower.
Larson throws a right hand that Mayflower ducks under and follows up with a left that Mayflower also avoids with ease.
A nice side step and Mayflower releases a counter shot to the body, but it doesn't find it's home.

Larson looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Mayflower!
Larson controls the position.
You can see the frustration on Mayflower's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Larson is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.
Larson wants to lay and pray for a moment but Mayflower keeps working.
We've been hearing that Larson has been drilling a lot of ground and pound in training, so let's see if he get the finish.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Mayflower is looking to regain half guard here but Larson keeps moving and retains side control.

Mayflower felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.

Mayflower tries to clinch but Larson moves out of range.

Larson ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Larson no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

Mayflower is working for an americana but Larson has been sneaky and has managed to get back to half guard, whilst Mayflower was thinking about the submission.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Larson is on top in guard.

Larson stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Mayflower swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Butch Larson overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Larson is looking to work some ground and pound but Mayflower has wrist control.
Larson is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Larson stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Mayflower swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Larson looks to land a combination. Mayflower sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.


It looks like Larry Mayflower has been cut.

and Larson counters with a nice body shot.

Mayflower wants to take the fight to the mat but Larson manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.
Butch Larson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Larry Mayflower.
