PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Todd Cannon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and DeAndre Jackson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Cannon comes to the cage accompanied by The Conquering- Black Moor. The key to victory for Todd Cannon has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.

With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, DeAndre Jackson!
The judges for this bout are Vladimir Khabensky, Viktor Lagutenko and Sergei Dronov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.
Cannon is in a tricky position. We've heard reports from his gym mates at HFC Training Center that he's been drilling escapes, so let's see if he can get back to his feet.

That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Todd Cannon. That's going to take a lot out of him.

In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Jackson working his ground and pound in the gym. So far it seems to be working well.

Cannon has his foot on Jackson's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Jackson works his way back into a safe position though.

Cannon is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Jackson sees it coming and defends easily.

DeAndre Jackson has got the better of the ground game so far.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Cannon is not content to let Jackson control the position.
Cannon is trying to control but can't.
Jackson looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Cannon with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Cannon is controlling Jackson's trapped leg to prevent Jackson from advancing to side control.

Jackson takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.

Cannon is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Jackson pulls his head out easily.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

A close second round but DeAndre Jackson will probably get the nod - 10:9.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. And we move into the final round!

Jackson got a little sloppy there for a moment and Cannon has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Jackson has managed to get both his arms back between Cannon's legs - danger averted.
Cannon manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Jackson manages to get himself to full guard.

Jackson looking to sit in guard and control but Cannon gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Jackson can do anything to dispel that myth.

Cannon drops back looking for a submission - "I'm sorry sir, but I'm gunna break your leg" says Cannon as he cranks on the unfortunate limb! Jackson screams and taps out before any major damage is done! Don't mess with Cannon! Nice submission victory there!
