The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Frank Dennis and Chris Downing.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Carrillo throws a quick inside leg kick.

Carrillo instigates a clinch.

Melendez turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Melendez manages to end up in side control.

Carrillo bucks up and manages to escape back to his feet!

Carrillo moves into the clinch successfully.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Melendez turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!
Melendez trying to control the position but Carrillo is working away.
The referee asks Melendez politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Melendez prefers to stall for the moment though.
Carrillo is looking to regain half guard here but Melendez keeps moving and retains side control.
Carrillo gets back to half guard.
Melendez is keen to just control but Carrillo is a slippery customer.

Melendez seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.

It looks like Melendez might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

Still in half guard, Melendez seems content to control.
Melendez working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Melendez lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Carrillo actively working from the bottom here.
Melendez is thwarting Carrillo's attempts to control the position.
Melendez is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.

Melendez wants to pass to mount but Carrillo is defending the position.

Carrillo is rocked!
Melendez takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Oh Carrillo is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Melendez lands a massive shot from half guard that has rocked Carrillo! More strikes land and this one is all over! Melendez jumps to his feet and is applauded loudly by the crowd!
